Folk Art Bird and Hearts – Handmade Wall Plaque with Ceramic Elements
I created this small plaque as a celebration of simple joy—bright, bold, and full of detail.
The red ceramic bird and two matching hearts are firmly attached to the black-painted canvas, forming a soft, vertical composition that feels cheerful and symbolic. I painted the bird and the hearts in bright red acrylics, then decorated by hand with fine white folk-inspired patterns. The canvas I also filled with folk floral designs drawn in white marker.
I really enjoyed playing with the contrast here—bold red and black softened by flowing patterns and little details. Everything is done by hand, from the ceramic work to the painting and linework, so this piece is one of a kind.
The plaque measures about 7 x 5 inches (18 x 13 cm), and it comes with a D-ring on the back for hanging. If you prefer to display it on a surface, I can add the little wooden easel (like in the photo) for an additional $3.
