Crocheted Cattleya Orchid – Delicate Lime Green and Magenta Blooms in Wooden Pot
I recently finished crocheting this vibrant orchid, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. The design was inspired by the Cattleya orchid, often called the "queen of orchids" for its elegant and bold appearance. I wanted to capture the striking beauty of its large, colorful blooms, especially the way the vivid pink lip contrasts with the lime green green petals.
Standing at approximately 25 cm (10 inches) high, this piece is compact yet full of life. The petals are shaped to reflect the distinct look of Cattleya orchids, which are known for their intricate and dramatic forms. In nature, these orchids are popular in tropical settings and are often hybridized to create even more vibrant combinations.
The blossoms are complemented by deep green leaves and anchored in a minimalist wooden pot for a balanced and modern presentation. I worked on this piece to bring a splash of nature indoors, making it a long-lasting, maintenance-free alternative to fresh flowers.
Perfect for desks, shelves, or windowsills, this handmade orchid is not just decor; it’s a cheerful reminder of the beauty and vibrancy of nature.
