Large Felted Red Brooch with Bead Embroidery – Soft Textile Flower Pin
I made this brooch as a soft, bright piece that doesn’t try to look precise or strict. It has a simple round shape, built in layers, with colors placed one inside another like a small, open flower.
The base is needle felted, which gives it that slightly uneven, warm surface. It’s not flat or rigid—the edges stay soft, and the whole piece feels light but present in the hand. The red is strong and clear, with rings of pink and a quiet line of purple that gently break it up. In the center, small beads gather into a dense circle, catching the light in a different way than the wool around them.
Across the surface, there are scattered seed beads, placed one by one. They don’t form a strict pattern, but they add small points of shine that shift as the brooch moves. This mix of soft wool and tiny reflective details gives it a slightly playful feel, something that stands out without becoming sharp.
Because of its size, it works well on heavier clothing—coats, scarves, thick sweaters. It can hold fabric in place, but it also simply sits there as a bright spot, especially against darker colors.
It’s a piece that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Soft, a little bold, and easy to notice.
