Sterling Silver Sleipnir Pendant on Black Bronzite – Nordic Myth Inspired Statement Piece
The first thing you notice is the weight. Not only in the hand, but in the way the piece holds itself—solid, grounded, with a quiet, steady presence.
The horse above is not shaped in a smooth, modern way. Its lines feel older, slightly uneven, as if they were taken from another surface and carried into silver. The form comes from an ancient Scandinavian image, and that shows. There is movement in it, but held tight, almost contained within the relief.
It was first carved in wax, then cast in silver using the lost-wax technique. The original wax model disappears in the process, replaced by molten metal, so what remains carries the trace of that first carving—direct, a little raw, and very close to the hand that shaped it. After casting, the surface was cleaned and polished, but not to the point of losing that character.
Below it, the stone is dark bronzite—almost black at first glance, but not flat. When the light shifts, a quiet metallic glow appears within it, like something moving under the surface. Bronzite is known for its inner sheen and dense structure, and here it gives the piece a calm, steady base.
The frame around the stone is simple and firm, holding everything together. On the back, it is not left plain—the surface is carved with flowing patterns that follow the same restrained language as the front. Even where it is not seen at first, the work continues.
The back of the horse is hollowed. It makes the pendant easier to wear, but it also reveals something of the process—how the solid form in front is balanced from within, without taking away from its strength.
The pendant feels complete from all sides. It doesn’t rely on detail alone, but on how each part holds together—the dark depth of the stone, the raised silver above it, and the quiet work hidden on the reverse.
